Summertime is here, and it’s a great time…to be pregnant? Yes, really! Check out these five great things about a summer pregnancy.
The Outdoors
Sure, you might initially feel like this is a bad thing (“it’s too hot out!”), but it’s all about timing your outdoor activity and maximizing shade. If you live in a place that gets really toasty in the middle of the day, stick to morning and evening strolls. And, sun umbrellas are your friend. It’s also a great time to plan a small getaway to a place where you can take full advantage of nature’s summertime beauty.
Water
As in, the pool/ocean/lake. . Enjoy the feeling of weightlessness that floating in water gives you. There’s nothing better than a dip in the water on a warm day. Or some lakeside yoga or other exercise that works for you. And if you don’t have access to any of these places, can you put a small blow-up pool in your backyard? That would be great too.
Flip-Flops and Flowy Clothes
Who wants to deal with too-tight shoes and clothes? Well, in the summer, you don’t have to! It’s all about easy-breezy maxi dresses and easy-on and off sandals.
Seasonal Foods
Fresh watermelons, peaches, cherries and berries…ripe tomatoes, corn, and cucumbers… Summer has the best array of refreshing (and often local) produce on offer, which makes it easy to eat healthy and feel good. Also: popsicles. It’s easy to make your own with fresh fruits and/or yogurt (two easy recipes here).
Summer Mocktails!
Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you have to miss all the summer celebratory fun. Plus, you have to stay hydrated somehow! Choose recipes that get their sweetness and deliciousness from the aforementioned seasonal produce, and enjoy! (Get some inspiration here.)
What did we forget? We’d love to hear what you found to be the best part of your own summer pregnancy.
